Many community-based organizations (CBOs) and self-help groups (SHGs) in Africa—especially in refugee camps such as Kakuma—work daily to strengthen their communities. However, they often lack access to reliable information about international funding institutions.
This donor directory was created to change that.
Here you will find a clear, easy-to-understand overview of international and national organizations that support African CBOs — sorted by topic so you can quickly find the right funders.

Information for CBOs & SHGs
In order for an application to be successful, each CBO should prepare the following documents:
NADEUM-WIKO provides some templates (samples) on the following pages:
- CBO profile template (1-page organizational profile)
- Project description (max. 2 A4 pages, short and clear)
- Budget plan
(at least 5 years: 1 start-up phase / 2 years “initial successes” / 3 years “initial overview” / 4 years “what has been achieved” / 5 years “summary” – reports to donors / end of project) - Photos of activities (what should be funded)
- 6 points (which you should definitely adhere to)
- 7-phase model (from NADEUM-WIKO / international criteria)
- Letter of recommendation (if possible)
- Checklist (Have all points been positively created and/or completed?)
These documents increase the chance that a sponsor/donor will respond at all.
