The protection of your personal data is very important to us. This privacy policy informs you about what data we collect, for what purpose we process it and what rights you have.

2. Personal data collected
Members
We store personal data of our members, including, for example, name, email address, telephone number, contact details, and, where applicable, payment information, for as long as the membership exists. After termination of membership, data will be stored for a maximum of one legislative period (until 2028), exclusively for organisational purposes and possible reintegration into the association. After that, unless there are legal retention requirements, data will be deleted or anonymised.
Participants in internal events
Participants in internal association events who are members will be informed about the event and agree to the processing of their data for organisational purposes. External participants will be handled exclusively through partner organisations (e.g. GAFÉIAS).
Partners
CBO partners in Africa and other partners are asked for permission before publication on our website. Only after consent is given will names, logos or other information be published. Without consent, only a link to the partner website or social media will be provided.
Website use
- We do not store any personal data of website visitors unless you voluntarily enter it via contact forms.
- Anyone who logs in does so at their own risk.
3. Purpose and legal basis of data processing
- Member administration and association organisation: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR
- Communication and project information: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest)
- Newsletters, enquiries via contact forms, cookies: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent)
Data will only be processed to the extent necessary for the above purposes.
4. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies to facilitate the use of the website and to store preferences. Google Analytics or other tracking tools are only used if active consent has been given. You can deactivate cookies at any time via your browser settings; certain functions of the website may then be restricted.
5. Disclosure to third parties
- Data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary to fulfil legal obligations or if processing is carried out on behalf of the company (e.g. hosting, IT service providers).
- All third-party providers have concluded order processing agreements in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
- Third parties outside the EU are only involved via standard contractual clauses (e.g. Mailchimp, Google Analytics).
6. Storage period
- Members: until the end of membership + maximum legislative period
- Event data: until the end of the event + maximum legislative period
- Website data (contact forms, etc.): until revocation or fulfilment of the request
7. Rights of data subjects
You have the right to:
- Information about stored data
- Correction of incorrect data
- Deletion of personal data
- Restriction of processing
- Data portability
- Objection to processing (e.g. for direct marketing)

8. Publication of content, photos and media
- Photos, images and texts are only published if they have been created by us, provided by members or legally acquired.
- Every publication includes a source reference or copyright notice.
- Modification, distribution or commercial use without consent is prohibited.
9. Liability
We accept no liability for the completeness, accuracy or availability of third-party information to which we refer via links. The operators of external websites are solely responsible for their content.
10. Amendments to this privacy policy
