Introduction – global complications – always have an impact on a wide variety of areas
Barnaba and many of his Sudanese compatriots, who had fled to Kenya as young men and women, were confronted with the realities of the global world in 2025.
The North faces considerable challenges in terms of access to raw materials for its manufacturing industries. In this context, it is interesting to note that after 80 years of peace in Europe and possibly also the hope of the BRICS countries to replace the former economic leaders, a development can be observed that has completely turned the previous supply situation upside down.
The Russian Federation has attacked the Ukrainian state, which is in a sovereign position. It has been suggested that the entire peaceful balance in this interconnected world, whether in terms of the economy, food or trade relations with all its transnational economic agreements, could be called into question.
Re-elected US President Donald Trump had his own ideas about how to restore the US’s leading economic position. But there is also resistance: the G20 is fighting back. Unfortunately, the available financial resources are no longer sufficient to maintain support for refugees worldwide.
As a result, the UNHCR was unfortunately forced to lay off up to 3,000 employees. The refugees from various nations (ethnic groups) in the largest UNHCR refugee camp in Kakuma in the East African state of Kenya are an example of those who are suffering. The refugees stranded there, who had relied on the UNHCR to provide them with food so that they could devote themselves to a more normal life, were now faced with the challenge of having to provide for their own daily food (from August 2025).
This was the result of a contractual agreement (Swahili Plan) between the UNHCR and the state of Kenya, which was concluded in 2023.
- With this agreement, Kenya has classified refugees into four categories. It is important to me to point out that children, people with disabilities and elderly people, among others, are also provided with food.
- It is quite understandable that 3 and 4 young, energetic people, whether single or in a family, are not in the comfortable position of having their food provided by third parties.
- In order for this project to be successfully implemented, it would certainly be helpful if they had a vision and received support from private or official institutions in Africa.
Barnaba, one of the founders of the Kenyan CBO ‘Teach for Community’, has a vision that we would like to share with our members and interested parties.
We would like to introduce you to the vision of the Sudanese ‘Barnaba Osman Kwanjeli’, which we consider to be very interesting.
Attached you will find the link to ‘his wish for his vision’.
