Welcome to the new NADEUM-WIKO website!
2025 was the year in which we had to acknowledge that, despite their professional demeanor, some individuals placed their personal sensitivities above the association and its activities. As a result, the NADEUM association was compelled to change its name in such a way that it would retain its motto but expand it with the five points of its guiding principle. NADEUM does not have the money or the resources to engage in a civil lawsuit with the former IT administrator over the domains we paid for but which were unfortunately placed on his association’s website, and to obtain a domain transfer. As socially minded as he may be, his demands that we release our domains are unreasonable. In principle, domains must be parked in such a way that the respective IT administrator responsible can install them so that the owner is also accessible in terms of IT.
It only takes a few clicks to enable such a transfer.
Thus, NADEUM, which originated from the words “Nachhaltiges Denken Umsetzen” (implementing sustainable thinking), became the new word NADEUM-WIKO “Nachhaltiges Denken Umsetzen durch Wissen Kommunizieren” (implementing sustainable thinking by communicating knowledge).
NADEUM was created in 2015 based on a suggestion from an advertising expert so that it would be accepted as well as possible in German-speaking countries. Latin was the language of the elite until the 19th century. In the 20th century, it was replaced by the English language. This resulted in the ending “-UM.” The “-WIKO” brings the name of the association closer to the English language.
Why did NADEUM have to add the terms NADEUM-WIKO?
Welcome to NADEUM / NADEUM-WIKO
Our 5 guiding principles are
- 1. Sustainability
- 2. Thinking
- 3. Implementation
- 4. Knowledge
- 5. Communication

Note regarding the new web address
As part of an internal restructuring of our digital infrastructure, the NADEUM Executive Board has decided to re-register our domains and email addresses and to operate them under NADEUM-WIKO in the future.
This step was necessary because, despite valid payments and terms running until 2026, access to the previous domains could no longer be guaranteed for organizational reasons.
In order to ensure the operability of NADEUM and to make our online communication independent, we have decided to add two terms to our motto and introduce the new website NADEUM-WIKO.
We would like to thank all members and partners for their understanding and look forward to continuing to be reliably accessible via our new digital channels.

Our projects and their topics
P003 Cooperation with GAFÉIAS (our partner NGO)
Social skills training courses are offered within P003.
They are open to all African NADEUM-WIKO members. Registration and participation are mandatory. After all, the transition can be life-changing. We encourage Africans to take control of their own lives. Who else but they themselves can decide their future?
P003.1 is a collaboration with GAFÈIAS.
Here, NADEUM works together with this partner NGO. “Light Your Fire!” is the training program mentioned above.
P003.2 is a second social skills training course
that lasts one year and consists of twelve monthly stages in which participants can learn new skills. Attendance is mandatory.
P003.4 “ACAPMUSSC_MYC” is the counterpart to “ERASMUS+,” which is a great knowledge platform in Europe. All 27 EU member states are part of this project. It is being accepted by more and more students. Old-school politicians were somewhat skeptical. However, industry and the entire business community are happy that this platform exists. Why? The reason is that young people become more cosmopolitan here, build great networks abroad, and come home with new ideas. They are much more open to strangers.
This is exactly what many Africans want to achieve for themselves.
The president of NADEUM was inspired to come up with this idea in 2019 by Vice President Philipp Scherbaum. The pandemic then allowed for a pause for reflection, and Germany, which had initiated an apprenticeship program in Africa but withdrew from the project due to corruption in North Africa, gave some EU-ERASMUS-affiliated countries an insight into how these training courses could enable craftsmen to achieve greater value. As a result, ERASMUS+ was well received in the ERASMUS Knowledge Project 2023 and then 2024. And no student wants to miss out on this project.
Thus, NADEUM, in the person of its president and several Africans, identified what Africa urgently needs.
A knowledge platform that meets international standards. Future African students and skilled workers would then be on an equal footing with European students. Notifications would then be unnecessary.

P005 Our plastic waste initiative
NADEUM / NADEUM-WIKO is actively working to sustainably recycle plastic waste and reduce pollution in the oceans. In collaboration with partners, we are developing industrial processes to extract oils, lubricants, plastic granules, and fertilizer additives from plastic.
Unfortunately, many countries and economic actors are not taking the necessary responsibility when it comes to waste management. Climate conferences have so far led to minimal progress, while Africa and many developing countries continue to suffer from plastic pollution.
Our pilot project in Kenya is intended to serve as a model: with the support of European investors and innovative technologies, we want to show that plastic waste can be recycled efficiently and at the same time used in an economically viable way.
This project is an important step toward strengthening local environmental protection measures, creating sustainable jobs, and putting global environmental responsibility into practice.
P006 Peace plans [roadmaps] worldwide:
The idea was initiated by our NGO partner “GAFÉIAS.” NADEUM is, so to speak, the yin to the yang. The president of NADEUM-WIKO and the president of GAFÉIAS often have opposing opinions, but they come together and create a conflict-free zone that is free from the influence of governments and other parties. In this zone, we have enabled and continue to enable newly formed governments to implement strategic, state-supporting measures that are feasible for their countries. Our ideas are sustainable and future-oriented. We create the basis and the basic framework. So far, all countries that have adopted our roadmaps have been able to install forward-looking governments.
AU (Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, DRC, Nigeria);
- Ethiopia had adopted our basic ideas and is on a path that all emerging countries need to take in order to secure a viable and achievable future for themselves and their populations.
- Eritrea had at least managed to implement a peace agreement with its neighbor Ethiopia.
- Sudan would have almost succeeded if two rival generals had not destroyed the democratic seedling with their rivalry. The young Sudanese population was ready. Unfortunately, IS and nationalist and Muslim ideology stood in the way of modernization.

P007 NADEUM-WIKO certificate
In 2018, in view of the ‘confusion’ (chaos) surrounding the many certificates in the EU, we at the NADEUM-WIKO Presidium had the idea of creating a motivational sustainability certificate (seal). This idea has already been implemented in the energy industry. There is a colour scale for more energy-efficient appliances that provides information in a motivating way. What is not mentioned, however, is how the product is manufactured, how employees are remunerated and treated under their employment contracts, and how nature itself is protected. Our NTZ (Sustainability Transparency Certificate) should change this. Whether companies will take on this effort, given that the economy is calling for less bureaucracy within the EU, remains to be seen. We may need to approach the Austrian Chamber of Labour or the relevant institution within the EU. Project CEOs could actively implement this within NADEUM-WIKO.

P015 Initiative by the president of NADEUM-WIKO in the “Neu Penzing” district of 1150 Vienna, (contribution to future district planning)
For a long time, there was a political party in Vienna that had set itself the goal of slowing down the pace of life on Vienna’s streets. Many people who were set in their ways found it too progressive and, in some cases, too radical. However, it had the advantage that young people saw it as a way to change their city into a greener place. It transformed itself into a party dominated by women and thus lost its male-dominated electorate. In the last two Vienna elections, the socially oriented party, which thinks economically, took over the government again. In doing so, the more socially minded party adopted the ideas of the former, more progressive co-governors and transformed Vienna into a climate-friendly city for the next century.
The president of NADEUM/NADEUM-WIKO moved to this up-and-coming, young district of Vienna’s 15th municipal district when he was younger. He worked until 2017 and only noticed a few changes in the westernmost part of his district.
In 2017, he was astonished to discover that all economic activity had disappeared from this part of the district, but that the streetscape had remained largely unchanged. When he started a family here in 1986, he thought he was in a young, up-and-coming part of town.
In 2017, however, he realized that the district had degenerated into a parking lot.
In 2017, he was forced into retirement. That’s what they call it when a civil servant under the old system retires. In the same year, he presented his idea of a car-free zone to the then transport minister. As he discovered, 2017 was not yet ready for this. The old district representatives were still sitting in the district parliament. They could not or would not imagine a redesign of their district.
From 2020 to 2022, there was the global “COVID pandemic,” a turning point in human history. After that, suddenly many things became possible. Apparently, humanity always has to experience such drastic events in order to imagine change.
The new environmental officer for the city of Vienna had adopted the ideas of the former government partner and took a very active approach to making the federal capital Vienna more sustainable and climate-friendly.
As a result, some streets in his district were redesigned, perhaps also inspired by the ideas of the NADEUM president. The district got two bike lanes redesigned for cyclists and their advocates. Cyclists have priority in these lanes. Cars must adhere to the speed limit. These streets allow access but no through traffic. Whether cycling will be the future will be decided by migrants.
Perhaps the appearance of vehicles will change. Although many people are in favor of cycling, they have forgotten the older generation, who are unable to cycle in Vienna’s hilly landscape. The new generation of e-bikes, on the other hand, must first be understood and learned. They enable faster speeds, which many people underestimate when it comes to necessary braking. As a result, accidents involving bicycles have risen sharply.
Only a mix of different mobility options will enable sensible transportation in the city. What do you do when it rains or snows? Perhaps future cars will be electric and smaller and narrower. Currently, there are many SUVs because we humans cannot get into these smaller cars. The president himself is almost two meters tall. And yes, he belongs to the 60+ age group. His body can no longer carry as much. So he needs his car to do his shopping for the next 12 days. This is impossible with a bicycle or a cargo bike. Therefore, a compromise is needed.
Both the cycling lobby and the car lobby still have a few hurdles to overcome here, because the road consists of several parts of mobility such as sidewalks, green spaces, lanes for bikes, cars, and trams, and should provide space for everyone. This is a very big challenge in European cities. It often takes many years of exhausting planning before feasible redesigns can be implemented. Citizens are currently being actively called upon to get involved in the initial planning stages of road and urban redesign. This, too, is a learning process that many feel is progressing too slowly.
By 2025, there will be two bicycle lanes in the westernmost part of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, as well as several “Pflanzlets,” formerly known as “Parklets,” set up by citizens on their own initiative. These are consumption-free communication platforms approved by MA 46, which may be up to 20 m² in size and may be set up by the applicants on their own initiative. The City of Vienna supports its citizens through the newly established L21 Agenda. Since 2023, these Pflanzlets have been allowed to remain in place all year round, due to the experiences of the coronavirus pandemic. A wise decision by the city. Why? Because this regulation means that citizens who are opposed to them are less likely to resist the new situation, which is becoming part of the familiar street scene.
This allowed the president of NADEUM-WIKO to realize his plantlet in his section of the street. A small green oasis with benches has been created. He can plant it and all residents can use it. Because it is part of street space management.
P016 (Information for NGOs and NPOs that have set themselves the goal of protecting our planet's biosphere and are actively working toward this goal)
NADEUM-WIKO is one of many associations committed to sustainability. Associations are formed when individuals want to realize their ideas on a freelance and voluntary basis and find like-minded people.
In Europe, especially in German-speaking countries, there are countless ideas and the resulting associations.
In Europe, associations are a form of self-realization, social arrangement, and helpfulness in the service of our society.
From social, church, and charitable associations to cultural, traditional, or recreational ones, there are no limits to the imagination.
In principle, association activities and participation in them are voluntary services. Any registered association can establish and operate external, commercially run businesses.
The association itself is tax-exempt up to a certain amount “X,” but the associated business is subject to the financial tax system of the respective state.
First and foremost, we mention here the associations that are committed to sustainability.
(Please note: In Africa, associations are set up to give the population a better economic start. Anything is possible, from an NGO to a CBO and SHG to an LC.)
P017 (freely available)
Your imagination could become reality here through your own project vision.
P018 (Information for companies that are committed to sustainability in all areas and take this seriously)
The European Union (EU) is a federation. It is currently the driving force when it comes to implementing sustainability in economic and eco-social terms. All countries that enter into trade agreements with the EU are encouraged to adopt EU standards as far as possible. However, as often happens in a bureaucracy when there is a long period of peace, regulations are enacted that the bureaucracy itself invents in order to define itself as indispensable. For some time now, the political and power-political structure has shifted towards the East, i.e. towards Asia. In these countries, the individual is not valued as highly as in our society due to the form of government. Although almost the entire world – meaning the people – would actually like to live in Europe when it comes to human rights. Europe, and the European Union in particular, therefore has a responsibility to enable the balancing act between a feasible and a tradable economy. The EU’s trade policy position has been weakening since 2022. The aggressive behavior of the current Russian president and the power claims of the emerging developing countries under the “BRICS” alliance pose a serious threat to the economic power of the European Union. Due to these new global political situations, the EU must rethink and revise its strict guidelines in order not to jeopardize its position as a business location. The resulting new situations are welcomed by the European economy. However, the younger generation wants to stick to these tough standards. After all, those who reposition themselves now can expect to be better positioned in the future and to strengthen their economic standing. It’s the same everywhere. Those who let themselves go only reap short-term benefits. On the other hand, those who work hard and try to put themselves in a more sustainable position through new regulations will reap more benefits in the long term.
Currently, the EU has the disadvantage that our aging citizens want to maintain their own progressive efforts, while global developments are progressing too quickly and are sometimes incomprehensible to them. This creates a situation within the EU that is just as challenging as that faced by the emerging Asian generations. Soon there will be nine billion people worldwide. In Asia, Africa, and South America, the younger generation is in the majority, while in the old industrialized nations (G20), the older, albeit more experienced, generation is in the majority.
The question is how we can make our economic location in the EU so sustainable that we can maintain our European value system (in tradition, culture, economy, and healthcare) in the future and make it more affordable. This is the current challenge facing EU countries and their governments. They are still clinging to old values. However, they must realize that we all need to prepare for major changes. Those who initiate this process today will have an easier transition than those where conservative forces (whether right or left) are massively resisting more modern changes.
This challenge must be faced by the economy and by each individual. Facing the new and courageously embracing it has always been the most difficult task for humanity. Those who succeed will own the future. Those who refuse to do so will perish.
Whether the BRICS countries or the G20 will govern the world politically in the coming decades, this process of change is already underway.
Let us hope that Europeans can master this challenge, as they have often done and proven throughout their history.
P019 Forms of government as they exist today and as they could be in order to achieve more fruitful cooperation.
Human imagination is limitless. The same applies to possible forms of government. From absolutism to universal suffrage, our forms of government are currently empowered to govern states. However, many people, especially older generations, would prefer everything to remain as it was and would rather see a more absolutist form of government. The younger generation, which is in the minority in the northern states, on the other hand, strives for everyone to have a say in order to enable future cooperation. These two political opposites currently shape our world. Since the Great War (1939–1945), the resulting power tensions have been played out in a new kind of conflict arising from the sensitivities of some rulers and their systems. It seems as if the democratically led forms of government and their administrations have neglected their goal of defending democracy during the nearly 80 years of peace (1945–2025). Many people are unaware of what democracy means and what responsibility each individual has towards themselves and the state. As NADEUM-WIKO (formerly NADEUM) notes, it has become something that is taken for granted. Only a few are aware that democracy has a lot to do with personal responsibility and active compromise. The website “Länderdaten.info” presents the current states with an overview of all relevant data. We at NADEUM-WIKO use some of this data and supplement it with information from other websites to make it clearer here in short but informative messages.
After all, in order to enable a more sustainable peace, many small and large compromises are necessary to allow the widest possible diversity of opinions the necessary, respected political leeway.
After all, every generation has its own ideas about how to live together. These include civilizational sensitivities such as tradition, culture, and science, as well as the strongest driving force, belief in something higher.
P020 (The universe and our future economic space in our solar system; here too, mindfulness and sustainability would be appropriate)
Let our imaginations run wild! Let’s enjoy the idea of “what if.” To put it succinctly: we humans would not be where we are today if we had not stretched our imaginations to unknown places. What distinguishes us humans, a species with a highly developed imagination, from other living beings on our planet is our ability to imagine places that do not yet exist but could be possible in the future. Our dreams and fantasies enable us to repeatedly break down barriers and open up new, as yet unknown spaces.
